Timor Leste Vision (TLV) is a volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation based in Perth which works in partnership with the people of Timor Leste (East Timor) to support and strengthen local communities.
Our organisation relies on the time of our dedicated volunteers and the generosity of the local community.
All projects are designed and delivered in collaboration with Timorese communities with the aim to create sustainable livelihoods for the people in Timor by addressing development needs in areas such as education, agriculture and infrastructure.
Our charter ensures all programs reflect the changing needs and wishes of the communities we work with.
TLV has an In-country team and representatives of the organisation visit from Australia throughout the duration of the project.
Underway:
Hera School Kitchen Garden Project: TLV is partnering with a Youth Group in Timor-Leste, A-YEFF, to empower children, parents and teachers to combat malnutrition, in the area of Hera, by learning to set up their own kitchen gardens.
The construction, fertilisation and pest control of the kitchen garden will use locally, easily accessible products, allowing for easy, affordable, sustainable fruit and vegetable growth for the households. The kitchen gardens will be in alignment with climate change mitigation and will include adaption and learning of practices to increase productivity.
Sister Schools Project:
Completed Programs include:
– Ponilala Kindergarten/Pre-School: The school in Ermera is the initiative of Basilio Martins Pereira, an alumni of TLV. Basilio recognises the importance of education due to his own education, and wants to help others with this opportunity.
Manufahi Sanitation Project: The installation of toilets at the school and at locations identified by the communities in three villages in the area of Manufahi, the villages being Beremanek, Tahu-Bein and Debuwa’en. These communities have prioritised this need recognising the activity’s immense value and great need to reduce and eradicate open defecation practiced by the rural communities in the area.
– Railico Water and Sanitation Project: The scope was to deliver water and sanitation to the community and school in the village.
Hatete Water and Sanitation Project: The scope of the project was to deliver water and sanitation to the school, community centre and households in the village. Public toilets were also constructed at the school so that children and the community had access to toilets.
– Funar Water and Sanitation Project: The scope was to repair their existing inoperative water system and extend it to the village schools and households. Public toilets were also be constructed at the school to provide children with sanitation.
– Partnering with Bibliotek Emera to build a library and supply books.
– Ainaro Project – TLV worked with the Ainaro Parish to renovate and extend the St Louis Gonzaga Boarding College, enabling 100 more boys to be educated.
– Scholarship Program: TLV has enabled promising students from regional areas to attend high school and university in Dili.
